The Chamber of Commerce of Fargo Moorhead's strong voice in the business community:

The Barnesville City Council consists of six city council members plus the mayor. Council members are elected to four-year terms, the mayor to a two-year term.

Organized in 1872, is a Minnesota Statutory City with a Standard Plan A form of government. The mayor is elected at large for a four-year term and four council members also are elected at large for overlapping four-year terms.

The Fargo City Commission consists of four commissioners and the mayor, who acts as the commission president. Commissioners are elected to four-year terms from the city at large, not from specific precincts. Two commission seats are elected biennially. Each commissioner is responsible for specific portfolios of city departments and projects. Commissioners and mayors are limited to three consecutive four-year terms.

Fargo is the county seat for Cass County, North Dakota, which has a commission form of government made up of five commissioners, elected by district, to four-year terms. The County utilizes a portfolio system of management, with each commissioner responsible for specific areas of county business.

The United States Chamber of Commerce is the world's largest business federation, with more than 3 million members of all sizes and industries, 3,000 state and local chambers of commerce and more than 800 business associations. Their web site allows access to a directory of U.S. chambers and information regarding important business issues, managing a business and attracting and retaining employees. The web site also includes helpful links to chambers of commerce abroad and national organizations that partner with the U.S. Chamber to promote business interests worldwide.
