What is Youth Leadership
Youth Leadership is an educational program designed to nurture and enhance the skills of students from our community who wish to become involved in impacting the future.
     Youth Leadership is a program of the Chamber of Commerce of Fargo Moorhead and is endorsed by our area high schools: Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton, Fargo North, Fargo South, Moorhead, Oak Grove, Park Christian, Shanley West Fargo and Woodrow Wilson.
      This program for high school sophomores and juniors is designed to acquaint students with the community, develop and enhance leadership skills, provide opportunities to network with business and community leaders and encourage young people to remain in or return to the community.
     Each year's program consists of an opening retreat, seven all-day sessions and group projects. The year concludes with a graduation ceremony, but is by no means the end of involvement for participants. Alumni continue to meet regularly and participate in Youth Leadership or immerse themselves in civic involvement through school and community organizations.

The goals of Youth Leadership are to:

• Present in-depth programs that acquaint participants with community needs, issues and resources
• Foster leadership development as a stepping stone to being a community leader or a leader in the student's school or community
• Allow interaction with community leaders and decision makers
• Provide opportunities for students from different geographic areas to know one another and develop a level of mutual trust and respect
• Foster students' interest in community and voluntary activities
