Freeways

You’ll find Fargo Moorhead conveniently located at the crossroads of major cross-country interstates I-94 and I-29. The I-94 corridor connects with I-90 to stretch from Boston to Seattle. I-29 reaches from Winnipeg, Canada, to Kansas City, where I-25 continues to the border of Mexico.

Air Service

Hector International Airport (701.241.1501) is served by Northwest Airlines, Delta Air Lines, United Airlines, Allegiant Air and Frontier Airlines with daily jet service to/from Chicago, Salt Lake City, Phoenix-Mesa, Las Vegas, Minneapolis and Denver. Frequent seasonal charter flights are available to points in Nevada and Mexico. Hector also features multiple cargo/freight carriers; six on-site car rental companies; 24-hour full service aviation line services including fueling, aircraft maintenance and avionics repair station; aircraft charter service; flight school; aircraft rental; heated hangar space to accommodate G550/Global; and a U.S. Port of Entry with on-site customs services.

Moorhead Municipal Airport (218.287.1400) provides charter service; flight instruction; aircraft rental and maintenance; hangars; and overnight security. Services are limited to daylight hours, with the arrival/departure area open 24 hours a day.

Hawley Municipal Airport (218.483.3331) provides a 3,406 foot asphalt runway and accommodates single-engine planes. Hangars are available for rent.

Public Transportation

The Fargo-Moorhead Metropolitan Council of Governments provides a Public Transportation Directory.

Metro Area Transit (MAT Bus) operates 18 routes running throughout the Greater Fargo Moorhead area. A new joint transit garage collects rainwater from the roof for lawn watering and recycles water for bus washing. Buses use biodiesel fuel during the warmer months.

Other public transportation includes Greyhound Bus Lines; Clay County Rural Transit; Handi-Wheels; Senior Dial-A-Ride; and complimentary ADA Para-transit. Fargo Moorhead has five local charter bus companies, nine limousine services and three taxicab services.

U.S. Customs Port of Entry

Located at Hector International Airport, the U.S. Customs Port of Entry provides 24-hour customs clearance services to companies throughout the Fargo Moorhead area. International shipments are bonded directly to Fargo Moorhead and cleared by customs in a manner much more efficient than what is found at the congested coastal shipping ports. Unlike larger coastal ports, it is common for goods to arrive in the morning, clear Customs and be on the way to the factory floor by afternoon.

Vehicle licensing fees are based on the age and weight of vehicles. Average license fees for 1999 or newer vehicles range from $73 to $142 plus $13 title and service fees.
