Consistently ranked among the healthiest, safest, least-stressful states in the national surveys, Fargo Moorhead is home to many of the best health care facilities and programs between the Mayo Clinic (289 miles away in Rochester, Minnesota) and the West Coast.

Fargo Moorhead topped the list of U.S. cities ranked on 200 environmental, health and quality of life indicators compiled in a 2007 Urban Environment report released by the Earth Day Network. The report found that Fargo has the lowest percentage of population at risk from environmental hazards.

Fargo Moorhead ranked ninth nationally for its "health quotient," according to Expansion management magazine, which rated areas on a variety of criteria to measure low costs, fewest risks and best coverage for employees.

Social Service & Volunteer Organizations
Within the service area of the United Way of Cass-Clay, there are more than 2,500 not-for profit health, welfare, educational, art and legal resources available.

A host of non-profit social entities and the support of more than 1,000 volunteers also contribute greatly to the quality of life of the Fargo Moorhead community.
