Why YPN?

A note from YPN Chair John Machacek, United Way of Cass-Clay

I joined the YPN a few years ago because I enjoy meeting new people and I wanted to push myself to get better at small talk and not being a wallflower at events where I don’t know anyone. I would have never guessed I would meet as many people as I have through our YPN and how well I have personally progressed in my communication abilities. I think all members can benefit from the YPN but you will get out of it what you put into it; so it’s not so much of just being a member, but becoming an active member.

Thank you for taking the time to visit the Chamber’s YPN webpage. If you are here, then the practice of networking is something you are involved with or interested in. I can’t say enough about getting involved with a YP network, your community, your church, or whatever. Becoming an active member in any of these is essential to a good community and will no doubt aid in strengthening you as a person.

We have plenty of professional development and social events being planned, we’ve kicked off the mentorship program and the Entrepreneur’s Anonymous committee has an interesting things in store for us.

Your help is needed to keep this on all track. Membership has grown quickly in recent months as we approach 300 members. I encourage you all to be active through attendance of events, volunteering for sub-committees, or promoting the YPN to your colleagues. Also, please let us know of any comments, questions, or suggestions on the YPN. We are always looking for ways to improve the network. I believe that we not only exist for the professional development and social events but to cultivate the future leaders for our community. You may not realize it but we will be the leaders. Why not start now in nurturing your networking skills and fostering a vibrant community in which the current and new citizens of Fargo Moorhead will gladly choose to live and work in.
