History of the Chamber of Commerce Fargo Moorhead

On January 1, 1998, the former Fargo Chamber of Commerce and the former Moorhead Area Chamber of Commerce completed the successful merger of the two chambers. Each organization has served their respective cities for more than 115 years as independent, but cooperative, entities.

Merger discussions were initiated at the suggestion of firms that held more than one chamber membership in the metropolitan community. The merger became a reality following six months of serious collaboration discussion among the area chambers, culminating in the signing of the official Letter of Intent in October of 1997 between the Fargo and Moorhead chambers. In April of 1999, the new offices of the Chamber of Commerce of Fargo Moorhead were completed. The Chamber is located on the south side of the Hjemkomst Center in Moorhead.

Today, the Chamber has more than 1850 member firms and is the largest chamber organization in the state of North Dakota and the third largest in the state of Minnesota.
